Secret Ballot is a function where individual voter's vote details is not available to anybody including the election managers and the IT team managing the platform.

This ensures the voter can vote without any fear.

This is specifically helpful where election management is in hands of one of the contestants.

Example: If a dictator of a country is holding a referendum on himself, citizens of that country would be very scared to vote against him. With assurance of #SecretBallot, voters can vote fearlessly.

Generally each voter is supposed to provide UNIQUE login IDs (Email ID / Mobile Number) in the voter list. However, if for some reason, more than one voter is sharing the same Login ID, we have a feature for such situations. This feature is very helpful when one person owns more than one flat in a building and he needs to be provided an option to vote for each flat separately.

This is also useful in cases where a person has been appointed as proxy by several voters. Another use case is when husband and wife share the same email ID but would like to vote independently.

In a country like India where many people are not literate and where different sections of people are comfortable with different languages, picture is the only universal language.

We provide the option of putting one or two pictures in options for voter to identify their option easily.

Allow vote change feature allows the voter to change his vote anytime before the close of the poll.

This feature is very useful where a voter is expected to change his opinion due to happening of certain event. For example, audience of a debate might have different opinion on a subject before the debate and might change their opinion after hearing the debate.

This feature is also a very useful feature where there is a risk of coercion. If the voter was forced to vote against his wishes, whenever he is in private space, he can change his vote.

In any important voting, generally the losing party cries foul and blames the system. Hence, its important to provide facility where system can establish the total flow of votes - starting with the voter to the end result to establish that the whole process has been fair.

However, important election also requires secret ballot so that voter is able to vote fearlessly and nobody should be able to know his individual vote.

Many times in Cooperative Housing Society Elections and Association Elections, a committee needs to be elected.

The election rule requires voters to select more than one member from the candidate list. Right2Vote is one of the very few eVoting platforms that provides the features of committee election or team election.

Right2Vote also provides the option of customizing the eVoting to elect "upto X candidates" or "exactly X candidates". IF the "exact 5" option is selected by the election officer, then the voter must select exactly 5 candidates from the list. If he tries to select more than 5 or less than 5, the system will notify him and not allow him to submit his vote until he changes his selection to exactly 5.

Not all polls are simple one question poll.

One of the perceived risk of online system is hacking - specially hacking while transit. There is a risk that vote data would be tampered with while the data flows from voter mobile to our central server.

To eliminate this risk, we have built a feature where our server ask for confirmation from voter before his vote is recorded.

The platform provides personalized invite capability.

Personalized invite not only boost the ego of the voter and increases his chance of responding but also provides him with the much needed information which like booth location, ID required etc. which is essential for him to vote.

Generally one person has one vote. However, in certain voting including voting of creditors in insolvency cases, different voters have different weightages based on their investment or some other criteria.

This feature ensure that the poll creator does not have to do offline weight allocation to votes which is a very tedious and error prone task.

Vote record in a superior feature than Voter Receipt as it provides vote record direct from the servers. Hence in case votes has been tampered with post voting, the voter would come to know.

Generally a voter would not waste time to search your invite from various mails and message. We provide a direct link to the poll which can be shared via various medium including sms, email, social network

In a poll where there are more than one question, the voter can be provided the option of not answering one or more questions.

This feature is useful where there is a risk that the voter might like to avoid voting on a specific uncomfortable question and might drop out from the poll to avoid that question.

In Right2Vote platform, the poll creator has full rights to decide the result visibility. He can decide the results to be visible to all including the voters.

Or he can decide that results would be visible to him only.

He can also decide that result would be computed only after the conclusion of the poll and then would be visible to everybody.

Allow nomination is a functionality where voter is given opportunity to suggest option other than the one listed by the poll managers. In this case if a voter nominates a new option, all subsequent voters would also see the new option in the list and would be able to vote on the new option.

For example: If the HR of the organization has nominated 4 names for the award of "employee of the year" award, each employee would have the choice to nominate himself or somebody else for that award. This would make the award more fair.

At-times, sending personalized invite is not enough or people treat individual invites as privacy infringement. Also, at times you want to reach out to all your voter base at once. Or the candidate might like to reach out to his voter base.

My Poll Invite screen lists down all polls where the user has been specifically invited. For this the poll creator has to input the voter's mobile number. This ensures that no junk polls are shown to the voter.

Another benefit of this page is that a voter need not search for links to polls in his mails, sms etc. Whenever he wants to vote, he just need to open the Right2Vote app. This screen is the landing screen and on this page he gets all the polls where he is supposed to vote listed at one place.

Remote voting has the challenge that somebody else might vote on behalf of voter. Voter selfie feature ensures the voter has to vote in person.

Geo tagging is a functionality where along with vote geographical location of the voter at the time of voting is recorded.

This is specifically very helpful when the poll manager want's to understand to evaluate the variation in voting pattern across different geographies.

Example: If a poll is happening on popularity of different sports, Cricket would appear very popular due to number of votes. However, if geographical concentration of votes are considered it would be clear that majority of votes are coming from Indian sub-continent.

If you do not want to trust the election officer or the election manager, this feature is for you. Similar to bank lockers, here the result is available only after all 3 authorised persons insert their One Time Passwords (OTPs). This feature ensures that no single person on his own can view or announce results.

One of the biggest problems in election management is the problem of Impersonation or false voting. In sensitive elections where stakes are high and there are chances of impersonation, we recommend using the face recognition feature of Right2Vote.

With Face Recognition feature, the systems (computer / mobile / voting machine) camera takes a picture of the voter before he votes, compares it with a picture of the voter in the voter list and only when the picture matches, the voter is allowed to vote.

Geo-Fencing is a functionality where we can restrict voters from certain geographical areas only to be able to vote. People outside that geographical area would not be able to vote.

Example: In 2014, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi asked for opinion of Delhi citizen whether he should continue as CM or resign. People across the country and the world ended up voting in that poll leading to misleading results.

With Geo-Fencing function, we can restrict voter outside the geography (in this case Delhi) from participating in the poll.

Two factor authentication (2FA) or double authentication has become a standard feature in online banking and many other tech platforms including email, whatsapp etc.

2FA adds an extra layer of security and is very useful for elections which are very sensitive. 2FA increases the time taken to vote for a voter by a few seconds and is not as convenient as single authentication, hence should be used only when there are security concerns and election is sensitive.

We provide various methods for 2FA including:

1. Mobile One Time Password (OTP)
2. Email OTP
3. Aadhaar OTP
4. Aadhaar based fingerprint scan
5. Aadhaar based IRIS scan
6. Voter Selfie
7. Face recognition

Many times clients have concerns that many voters might gather at one place and vote or a candidate might call voters, ask for OTP from them and vote on their behalf. To mitigate such concerns, we are providing the "Unique IP address" feature. With this feature, only one voter can vote from any specific IP address.

However, we recommend that Voter Selfie feature is a better feature to mitigate the above concern.

We also provide the option to the election officer to configure more than 1, up to 10, voting from one IP address. This is useful when few voters are expected to share the same IP address. For example, a husband and a wife might be using the same Wi Fi connection. In doctor body elections, we see many doctor couples voting from the same IP address.

Aadhaar based verification is a functionality by which we can verify the voter voting remotely in real time.

Aadhaar verification can happen in 3 ways:

1. Fingerprint: Voter has to provide his fingerprint to enter the voting page of the app and this is cross verified with Aadhaar database of Government
2. Iris scan: Voter's eye scan is taken and verified against Aadhaar database
3. Mobile OTP: before giving access to voter of the voting page, a One Time Password (OTP) is sent to the mobile number which is registered with the Aadhaar number against the name of the voter in the Aadhaar database.

This ensure 100% accurate verification and unlike booth voting is not dependent on discretion of the booth manager

The election officer can pre-define the IP addresses from which eVoting would be permitted. This feature is useful when you want benefits of internet voting but at the same time want physical presence of voters at specific locations or at specific booths.

Organizations which want members to attend a meeting before the voting event generally opt for this feature. For example: Board meetings, AGM of housing societies, AGM of NGOs like Lions Club.

Organizations like Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) can use this feature to ensure that members vote only from designated voting centres across the country. It would be better than the current paper voting due to the following:

1. Automated and instant result counting
2. Automated and system driven member authentication without human intervention
3. Members can vote from any city and need not visit specific booths in their home city
4. Cost, time and effort saving
5. High voter turnout

Single Transferable Vote (STV) is method of counting used in 'Proportional Representation' method of election.

Its a very complex system of voting where each voter get only one vote and he is supposed to rank the candidates.

One or more than one winner is selected based on candidates getting maximum first preference plus transferred votes. Votes of Candidate who gets least votes are transferred to other candidates based on second and subsequent preference.

President of India, Rajya Sabha, CA Insititute, Bar council and several such elections use STV method of vote counting. Such counting generally take thousands of man hours. With Right2Vote platform even STV counting happens in almost real-time.

Many of our clients approach us to help them with the voter list creation. Till date, voter list and candidate list has been an input for Right2Vote and Right2Vote generally does not get involved in making of the voter list.

However, on popular demand, we have now started offering the new service of voter registration and voter data collection for the purpose of voter list creation.

It is a totally online and automatic process where the link of the registration page is circulated to members via emails, sms, whatsapp groups and social media. The members need to visit the link and fill in the details requested. Important information like Mobile number, email ID, Aadhaar number is verified by the system with the help of OTP (One Time Password) to avoid any kind of typos, errors or frauds.

We also provide options to collect other relevant information like membership number, flat number, roll number etc. Similarly the election officer can make it compulsory for members to upload their identity cards (voter card, Aadhaar card, membership card) while registering so that the election officer can also do a manual verification before finalizing the voter list.

In certain polls audience engagement is more important than equal voting right. For example - Television shows like Indian Idol, Big Boss etc. In such shows, the show managers allows the audience to vote more than once for their favorite candidates. The more a candidate is able to engage his fan base, better his chances of winning. Allow multiple votes feature is for such polls.

Right2Vote provides OTP (One Time Password) based authentication feature to ensure verified voting. A voter is able to log into the system and vote only after verifying himself through an OTP. A voter can vote only when his name is there in the voter list (in case of private polls) and can vote only with the ID which is there in the voter list.

Voter is verified before login at the time of login itself. Hence, if any non voter tries to login and vote on behalf of others, he would not get access to the poll.

OTP is one of the most secure yet user friendly method of verifying and authentication anybody in an online system and hence used widely for banking and other transactions.
