GO Air

Go_Air_Casestudy - Right2Vote

GO Air, one of India’s well-known airlines, has built a name for being on time and offering reliable service to travellers across the country. But in 2023, the airline faced serious financial trouble, leading to the suspension of its operations and the start of insolvency proceedings. During this time, one major challenge came up: how to conduct elections to choose representatives for the creditors and employees. Since the voters were spread across different parts of India and even abroad, holding a physical election was almost impossible.

To solve this, GO Air chose Right2Vote, a trusted and government-certified eVoting platform known for its simple, secure and transparent online voting system. This platform made it possible for every eligible voter to take part in the election from anywhere in the world using just their phone, laptop or tablet. Whether someone was in India or outside India, everyone got an equal chance to vote.

The election was conducted for two main groups, Operational Creditors and Workmen & Employees, with around 10,000 voters participating. The election remained open for four days, giving everyone enough time to vote at their convenience. The process was smooth, fast and completely digital, which helped save cost, time and effort.

One of the most interesting parts of this election was a special feature called “Allow Nomination.” This feature allowed voters to add their own choice of candidate directly on the ballot page. For example, suppose an election is happening to elect the captain of the Indian cricket team. Options provided on the ballot page are Subhnam Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Now, as a voter, you are not happy with the options and you want to vote for Rishabh Pant. Right2Vote’s ‘Allow Nomination’ feature allows you to add your own choice on the ballot page and vote for it. And all subsequent voters also see the candidate added by you on their ballot page and get the option to vote for Rishabh Pant.

If someone wanted to contest in the election themselves, they could nominate themselves, and that name would instantly appear for other voters to see and vote for. This ensured complete fairness and removed any chance of bias by the election manager. Everyone got a fair opportunity to participate, making the process more democratic and transparent.

Right2Vote made sure that even those who were not very tech-savvy could vote easily. The platform had a very simple and clear interface, with just a few clicks, and the vote was cast. Before the election, a live demo and a step-by-step guide were provided so that everyone could understand how to use the system. This extra effort helped make voters feel confident and comfortable.

The election turned out to be a huge success. Thousands of voters from different cities and countries were able to vote without any hassle. What initially looked like a complicated challenge became an easy, enjoyable and transparent experience. GO Air’s use of Right2Vote showed how digital technology can make even the toughest processes simple and fair. And Go Air is not the only one; even Jet Airways has used the ‘Allow Nomination’ feature of Right2Vote, in the past, to conduct fair and transparent elections.

Through this election, GO Air set an example of how companies can adopt technology to bring transparency and inclusiveness to their operations. Right2Vote’s eVoting system proved that elections, even during corporate insolvency, can be conducted smoothly, securely and efficiently. It’s a perfect example of how technology is reshaping democracy, making participation easy for everyone, everywhere.

Adani Solar E-Auction

Adani_Solar_eAuction_Casestudy - Right2Vote

Adani Solar, one of India’s leading solar power producers under the Adani Group, adopted a modern and transparent method to sell its generated electricity through an online eAuction. The company decided to auction 86 megawatts (MW) of electricity using the Right2Vote eAuction Platform.

Adani Solar’s need was far from ordinary. They were not selling assets or machinery but megawatts of electricity, a completely intangible resource. The company wanted a secure and flexible eAuction platform that could allow them to:

  • Sell 86 MW of solar power in a transparent and competitive manner.
  • Set a base price per MW - the minimum price they were willing to sell at.
  • Allow sealed bidding so that only the admin can view the bids. This way, bidders cannot see each other’s offers, reducing direct competition while still reflecting genuine bidder interest, potentially driving the final price higher.
  • Limit the maximum MW allocation per bidder, ensuring multiple participants could buy portions of the total power and no single bidder could dominate.
  • Conduct the auction in rounds, with each round lasting five minutes and a three-minute break between rounds.
  • Offer a demo auction before the live session to make bidders comfortable with the interface.

These requirements made it clear that a standard eAuction platform would not work. The system needed to be custom-built, real-time and user-friendly, while maintaining strict data security and transparency.

Adani Solar partnered with Right2Vote, a certified eAuction and eVoting technology provider trusted by government bodies and leading corporations across India. Right2Vote is STQC, MCA and ISO 27001 certified, meaning it meets the highest security and compliance standards. Right2Vote’s expert team designed a customised eAuction solution specifically for Adani Solar’s unique requirement. The system was configured to support MW-based bidding, upper bidding limits, base pricing, multi-round bidding and live analytics.

Key customisations included:

  • MW-based bidding unit: Instead of selling items, bids were placed in MWs.
  • Fixed base price: Adani Solar could set the starting price for each MW.
  • Upper limit control: Each bidder could buy only a fixed quantity, ensuring fair distribution.
  • Multi-round dynamic auction: Prices could increase across rounds based on competition.
  • Live dashboard: Bidders and administrators could track progress in real time.
  • Secure access: Every participant had verified credentials and encrypted data communication.

The entire eAuction was structured to ensure fairness, competition and clarity for all participants.

Demo Auction for Familiarisation: Before the live auction, Right2Vote conducted a demo session where all bidders could practice logging in, placing bids and checking results. This built confidence and ensured a smooth live experience.

Base Price Launch: The first round began with Adani Solar’s base price per MW. All registered bidders could start placing bids within their upper MW limit. The platform displayed real-time updates, ensuring full transparency.

Competitive Price Discovery: As interest grew, bidders competed to secure allocations, which led to gradual price increases. Between rounds, Adani Solar reviewed performance and adjusted the next round’s base price to reflect demand.

The system automatically allocated quantities and finalized the results based on price and available capacity. Each round lasted five minutes, followed by a three-minute review break, giving both bidders and administrators time to prepare for the next phase.

The auction concluded successfully, marking a significant achievement for Adani Solar and Right2Vote. All 86 MW of solar energy were sold through competitive rounds. The outcome exceeded expectations, both in terms of price realisation and bidder participation.

Key results achieved:

  • Enhanced price optimisation: Competitive bidding helped Adani Solar achieve higher-than-expected prices.
  • Fair distribution: The upper MW cap ensured multiple buyers participated and benefited.
  • Smooth technical execution: The auction ran without any lag or downtime, even during peak bidding.
  • High bidder engagement: The short rounds and quick breaks kept bidders active and alert throughout.
  • Transparent reporting: Right2Vote provided a detailed post-auction report, ensuring complete transparency and compliance.

Adani Solar’s team expressed their appreciation for Right2Vote’s professionalism and technical expertise. They acknowledged that managing such a complex and non-traditional auction would not have been possible without Right2Vote’s customised and reliable platform.

The collaboration between Adani Solar and Right2Vote has set a new benchmark for how renewable energy can be traded digitally in India. By using a secure, certified and customizable eAuction platform, Adani Solar successfully conducted one of the most innovative auctions in the energy sector, selling 86 MW of solar power through a transparent, multi-round digital bidding process.

This case study proves that Right2Vote eAuction Platform is not only capable of handling traditional product or asset auctions but is also adaptable for complex, large-scale and industry-specific requirements. With its secure technology, real-time responsiveness and user-focused design, Right2Vote continues to empower India’s digital transformation one successful auction at a time.

Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), Qatar

QatarElection - Right2Vote

The Indian Cultural Centre, Qatar, operating under the patronage of the Embassy of India, serves as the apex body for the Indian expatriate community in Qatar, dedicated to promoting social and cultural activities. The Indian Cultural Centre recently held its President & MC Member Election and AO Representative Election, marking a significant shift in their electoral process by adopting online voting. The results were astounding, with voter turnout reaching 80% for the President & MC Member Election and an impressive 96% for the AO Representative Election. This was a drastic improvement from their previous elections, where voting percentages barely reached 50% due to the physical challenges of traditional voting.

In past elections, voter participation was significantly low because people were scattered across the country and engaged in their professional commitments. Requiring voters to be physically present at a designated polling booth proved to be a major inconvenience. Many eligible voters simply could not make time to travel and cast their votes, leading to a lacklustre democratic process.

To address these challenges, the Embassy decided to embrace modern technology and opted for online voting, with Right2Vote, the world’s leading eVoting platform. Right2Vote stood out due to its unmatched features, affordability, and user-friendly interface. Recognizing that the Embassy was new to online voting, Right2Vote provided comprehensive guidance at every step, ensuring a seamless transition.

One of the standout features the Embassy used in the election is the Voter Selfie option. Before casting their vote, each voter had to log in to the system to capture their selfie and then cast their vote. This added an extra layer of security and transparency, ensuring that votes were cast by legitimate individuals and photographs of the voter were available to the admin in real time.

To familiarize voters with the platform and eliminate any technological apprehensions, a demo election was conducted before the actual voting. This trial run not only boosted voter confidence but also demonstrated the platform’s robust security, which is tested and certified by STQC and approved by the Government of India.

With the new system in place, voters found the process simple, efficient, and even exciting. Instead of travelling to polling booths, they could now vote from anywhere with just a few clicks. The ease of online voting turned the election into a seamless and engaging experience. As a result, voter turnout skyrocketed, proving that technology can significantly enhance democratic participation.

Most of the voters were non-resident Indians and many of them recommended that Right2Vote’s online voting technology should also be used in Indian national elections and state elections so that non resident Indians can cast their votes from Qatar itself and they do not have to travel to India to vote.

The Indian Cultural Centre, Qatar’s successful adoption of online voting has set a precedent for hassle-free, high-turnout elections. By leveraging Right2Vote’s advanced platform, they not only improved voter participation but also demonstrated how digital solutions can make elections more inclusive, transparent, and secure. Online voting is no more a futuristic technology. Online voting is a real and effective solution today , offering a modern and secure way to uphold democratic principles effortlessly.

Management Development Institute - Right2Vote

Established in 1973 and ranked 2nd among private B-schools in India, MDI boasts a vast and influential alumni network spread across the globe. However, when it came to electing key members Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer the challenge was evident: how to ensure maximum participation despite the geographical barriers.

Traditionally, elections for alumni associations are conducted through in-person voting or paper ballots, but this method posed significant challenges for MDI. With alumni working in different countries and deeply engaged in their professional commitments, expecting them to physically participate in the elections was impractical. A traditional election model would have led to minimal participation, defeating the purpose of a truly representative voting process.

To resolve this, MDI turned to Right2Vote, the world's most feature-rich online voting platform. Right2Vote conducts over 3,000 elections per year, offering a secure and transparent voting process. Certified and tested by STQC (unit of the Government of India), Right2Vote provided a seamless and secure digital platform for MDI’s alumni elections.

The digital voting system eliminated human mistakes, lessened administrative loads, and provided immediate result processing. Right2Vote’s encryption and auditing features further strengthen the election's integrity, guaranteeing that all votes are accurately counted.

MDI Gurgaon’s decision to conduct its alumni association election online is a testament to how technology is revolutionizing democracy. Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited Employees Trust

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited Employee Trust - Right2Vote

Right2Vote managed the elections for Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited Employee Trust (UPPCL CPF Trust) and few other sister concerns. UPPCL is a state government owned power generation company of Uttar Pradesh Government. There are more than 40,000 employees and they have an employee managed fund to manage their retirement fund. Employees needed an election to select a new management for the fund.

The biggest challenge for UPPCL was that its members are mostly blue-collar workers spread across remote plant locations across the state of Uttar Pradesh. Previously they had been managing elections via paper ballot and faced many challenges. The company used to declare the day of election as a holiday to enable the employees to go to the booths and vote. This meant huge loss of productivity. They used to create multiple booths across plant locations and also formed an election committee with volunteers to manage these elections. This meant loss of several man days in management of elections. Even with all these efforts the voting percentage was quite low as employees had to wait in queue for hours to vote.

With Right2Vote's eVoting technology all these issues were resolved. The complete election process was managed by the Right2Vote team. This saved the employees of UPPCL from election duties and enabled them to focus on their regular work. Not a single man day was lost in management of election. The cost of managing the election was a small fraction of the costs in previous elections.

Above all, the voting percentage increased by 42% compared to the previous election. Total number of voters were around 40,000 of which, around 12,500 voted in the first hour itself. Due to online voting system there was no problem of queuing.

Overall, UPPCL ended up saving substantially on cost, time and human effort. It also remarkably increased the voting percentage and there were no allegations of any wrong practices like false voting, duplicate voting etc. Everybody including the management, candidates and the voters appreciated the system for security, transparency, and ease of use. The management was so happy with the platform that other sister organizations also upgraded from paper voting to Right2Vote's online voting technology.

Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), Delhi

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi - Right2Vote

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is one of the most prestigious engineering institutes in India. There are more than 40,000 Alumni of IIT Delhi who are spread across the world with more than 25% living outside India. IIT Delhi used to hold alumni meet in last week of April every year where a physical booth used to be set up for paper-based voting. Very few alumni were able to attend the alumni meet as most of them are based outside Delhi and even in Delhi, very few are able to take out time from their regular work to attend the meeting. Among the people who attended the meeting, very few actually voted because they had to stand in a queue to vote and people would rather prefer to spend more time socializing with their friends rather then standing in a queue.

IIT Delhi Alumni Association (IITDAA) decided to upgrade to Right2Vote's online voting technology. It was game changer for IITDAA elections. Alumni from 25 different countries were able to participate and vote in the elections. Number of people voted increase more than 5 times compared to previous elections. Overall voting percentage was more than 65%. This ensured election of more representative management committee. Alumni outside the city of Delhi also welcomed that now they also have say in the working of the organization.

The process of voting, for each voter, did not took more than a minute. Hence, the alumni were able to spend more time socializing rather than standing in a queue. Also, the management committee which used to be preoccupied with election management was able to actively participate in the alumni meet as all election management was automatic and managed by Right2Vote team. Even result counting was automatic and instant. Hence it was possible to announce the result during the event itself. IIT Delhi management and Alumni highly appreciated Right2Vote's online voting platform and the transformational impact it had on IITDAA elections. Since that elections, IITDAA has not gone back to paper voting.

Indian Institutes of Management (IIM), Indore

Indian Institute of Management Indore - Right2Vote

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore is one of the finest and most prestigious management institute in India. IIM Indore is the biggest IIM in terms of number of students on campus each year. The PGP Students Activity Council (SAC) is a democratically elected body for managing all the activities that support the student community of IIM Indore. This body consists of 10 Committees, 10 Activity Clubs, 9 Interest Clubs, 4 Special Interest Groups and the heads of the Institute's National Level Events, all of which are coordinated by the SAC Coordinator.

SAC had experimented with digital voting in previous years but had faced challenges relating to accuracy, controls, and event management. There were allegations that same voter can vote more than once as the laptop-based system does not have enough controls on what the voter is doing once he is inside a booth. Another problem with the laptop-based system was absence of secret ballot. The team involved in election management was able to find out who voted for whom which was against the spirit of free voting. Also, with growing number of students, managing students' elections in a booth based set up was becoming more and more difficult. All students were not available for voting at the same time due to classes and other commitments.

Right2Vote's online voting software was a perfect solution to all their problems. The platform helped them conduct elections in a short duration and also announce the results instantly. Two factor authentication using mobile OTP and email OTP ensured 100% accurate authentication and elimination of duplicate voting. Secret ballot feature ensured free and fair elections.

The biggest achievement with the new system was that voting percentage increased from around 50% to around 85% as it become very convenient and time efficient to vote. No time of the students was wasted in election management and the students were able to vote from anywhere. It took them less than a minute to vote via their mobile. In the earlier system they have to waste lot of time in the queue. Students and the election committee appreciated the platform for being feature rich, smooth, fast, convenient, user friendly and efficient.
